I am about to install Netbackup 7.5. on my Win 2K3 SP2 32 bit master server. The patch requirements do not mention Win 2k3, only Win 2008. I am aware that Win 2K3 EOL is within the next month, so there is a project scheduled to refresh the server. Does tis mean that I have to wait until the server is refreshed to 2008 before i can upgrade Netbackup ?

Disk based backup + media pool
Hi team,
I want to configure four different media pools for daily /weekly/monthly backups and one scratch pool. The backup will run on disk only (MSDP backup).
once the retention gets over of any backup, the media should move to scratch pool.
Please suggest
bpclimagelist is hanged
Hello,
I've a strange issue with the bpclimagelist command.
If I don't put the "-s" attribute in my command line, it's simply don't work.
So, to sum up:
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpclimagelist don't work.
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpclimagelist -U -s 04/10/2015 works perfectly.
I run the command under a linux RHEL 6.6 and my Netbackup version is NetBackup-RedHat2.6.18 7.5.0.4.
Backup Exec 15 jobs stay Active:Running -Backup but don't run
I upgraded to Backup Exec 15 about a week ago. Everything has been running smoothly until last night. Two of the backups started and just sat at Active: Running - Backup, but only list 0 bytes. When I try to cancel the jobs they just hang there and I have to reboot the server for them to fully cancel. When I try to backup any of the servers that Backup Exec normally backs up the same problem occurs on any of them. Job logs show no errors, they just basically stop once it gets to a certain point. Has anyone else been experiencing this? Our other site is running Backup Exec 15 with no issues.
monthly report of successful jobs
Hello,
I need to create a report that shows the percentage of successful and failed jobs that have occurred in the month. This is possible?
thanks
Unable to load the necessary boot configuration files
Hey,
I'm backing up virtual machine's (CentOs) VMDK file from our VMWare vCenter. Everything else seems to be working fine, but the dublicate job to tape keeps giving me the following error:
Job ended: Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 9:06:42 AM
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xa0009683 - Unable to load the necessary boot configuration files. Backups that were enabled for Granular Recovery Technology may not be available for restore.
Final error category: Resource Errors
For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-40960-38531
The link mentioned above leads to empty search result page: https://support.symantec.com/en_US/search-result.html
What could be the cause for this problem? Same backup routine works fine for Windows virtual machines. I also have seperated VMDK- backup jobs to two different jobs, one for Windows machines and one for CentOS machines.
I'm running Backup Exec 2014 version 14.1 Rev. 1786 (64-bit).

BE 2010 R3 Tape Library Problem ?
Hi everybody,
i have a strange problem with a new HP Tape Library.
We got a new netapp filer "netapp03" and configured fc zoning, so the old and new library is visible at the filer. sysconfig -m/-t are showing changer and tape devices.
The HP MSL2024 G3 Series with LTO5 is the old one. The HP MSL2024 LTO6 is new.
The problem is, the HP Ultrium6 Device is not under the HP MSL2024 LTO6 Changer ??
Am I missing something, some mistakes in FC Zoning ? Any hints are welcome.
regards Daniel

Installation of Backup Exec failed to install SQL Express
Good Morning,
I am upgrade my Backup Exec 2012 to Backup Exec 2014.
The Microsoft SQL Server upgrade may fail because the account security identifiers (SIDs) of the SQL service group accounts created during the Backup Exec SQL instance installation cannot be mapped to the SIDs currently assigned to the SQL service group accounts.
I found the article below
https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH216...
However, theCsolutionin this articlecan help me.
But, if I run the Backup Exec installation again, I will losemycurrent jobs???
Backups failing with error 6, 41 and 196
Last week we upgraded our Master and Media servers to Netbackup 7.6.0.4 from 7.5.0.7 completing on the 17th April. Everything worked fine until 19th April when the we noticed Oracle and SQL backups were failing with an error 6 and an Exchange backup which normally takes 2.5 hours was still running after 2 days. Client servers are running a variety of versions from 7.1 to 7.5.0.7. We have two media servers and we only have this problem on one media server and the problem only affects some of the servers.
Error codes we are getting are 6, 41 and 196.
Investigating the problem the we found that the problem is the backups to the MSDP storage times out or is very slow in the case of the Exchange backup. Looking in the logs I have seen the following errors:

These errors seem to show the backups are unable to write to the storage as the backups seem to go to the media server ok and then fail because they cannot write to the storage. Apart from the upgrade the Netbackup configuration has not changed.
My gut feeling is that the failures are not caused by the upgrade and possibly not by Netbackup as these errors seem to be a consquence rather than a cause and we had at least a days worth of successful backups beform we started to have problems but as always for a Netbackup Administrator the problem is proving it.
Is anyone able give me any ideas? I've worked on this for 2 days and I am out of them.
Low disk space
I misconfigured my backups. I have it a full and then incremental jobs and my disk space is very low.
What I wanted to do was one full and then incremental.
So how do I delete the old job and free up the space and then go forward and redo my backups?
SLP's ending with code 96
Hello everyone
Somebody can help me to check where is the reason about the status code. Last week we had to insert on the library 100 cartridges to minimize this kind of errors, but today I see the same error. Could be I don't have the enough STU, but I need to know if is this the reason. Which is the log to check this?
May be I have to organize my SLP's, someby have any idea about how can I do it?
As can you see, this are the messages about it:

Backup Exit Notify script
How would I configure the backup_exit_notify script to email me when certain clients have failed their backups and be able to filter the emails with respect to the policy names?
Upgrade from BE-2104 to BE-2015
I was hoping someone could help with this issue. I am running Backup Exec 2014, with all updates, and I am trying to upgrade to 2015.
I recevied my upgrade email with my licenses. I import my license files with no issues, yet I don't get any option after that except to install the trial version.
I'm not sure why each show up twice either, I received 4 serial numbers in my license file.
Netbackup environment upgrade
Hi,
I am currently trying to plan an upgrade of our whole Netbackup environment which consists of the following:
A master server and 2 Netbackup 5220 appliances at one site (site A).
A master server and 2 Netbackup 5220 appliances at another site (site B).
All versions of Netbackup are 7.6.0.1 (or 2.6.0.1 for the appliances).
Both sites conduct their own backups for the clients at that site and then replicate the images to the other site via AIR (site A replicates to site B and vice versa).
I wish to upgrade the whole environment to 7.6.1.1 and was wondering the best way to do it whilst minimising downtime etc.
For example, can I upgrade site A one week and then site B the next week or will the appliances being on different versions for a week affect replications?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks,
Ade
Backup Exec SQL Agent Incremental job fails
I experiencing an Incremental job fail for an SQL Server in Backup Exec 2014 after I added a backup job for the virtual machine (VMware) that run the sql server.
The incremental job fails for the following reason
Final error: 0xe0000363 - The Backup Exec SQL Agent was not used to create the last full, differential, or log backup of this database. You must use the SQL Agent to run a full backup before you can run a differential backup or transaction log backup.
In the job log results for the databases i find the following
V-79-57344-867 - The last Full backup of database dbname was not made by this application. Run a new Full backup, then run this job again.
I made few research on the forum and i found out that running the SQL Server backup (with SQL Agent) combined with the VMware Virtual Machine backup (vcenter type) and GRT enabled may break the incremental job for the SQL Server backup.
I verified this situation querying the msdb database on the SQL Server and i found that when the VMware backup job runs, it will write a new entry on that table (NULL; datatime) that break the SQL Agent Incremental job.
Here is the query i used (reference https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH58674.html):
select name, backup_start_date
from msdb..backupset dbo.backupset
where database_name = 'db_example'
order by backup_start_date desc
I tried disabling GRT on the Virtual Machine backup job but it seems not to make any effect, every time the vmware backup job runs, it makes a new record on the msdb..backupset table.
I believe my problem is the same reported by this user https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/vmware-vsphere-backup-grt-and-sql but the link suggested as possible solution (editing the quiescing file) is not more available.
How to fix this? Is there any solution to this problem?
Thank you.
Backup Exec 2014 BEMCLI - SDR cmdlet shows bad information using Get-BEBackupDefinition
Morning guys,
I have a question about the cmdlet "Get-BEBackupDefinition". When I use BEMCLI queries in some BE 2014 Servers, all jobs defined returned SDR is disabled. In some cases, it is false because checking the GUI, in each job, many jobs show the green light enabled "simplified Disaster Recovery: ON".
PS >> get-BEBackupDefinition | select name,simplifieddisasterrecoveryenabled
Name1 False
Name2 False
My question is if really the cmdlet "Get-BEBackupDefinition" filtering by simplifieddisasterrecoveryenabled shows a correct information and SDR is disabled or it is a bug,
