I have problem to download the 7.5.0.7 patch from the symantec website (the .exe file within technote 209033) but it fails to get response.
NB_7.5.0.7.winnt.x86.exe provides fixes for NetBackup 7.5 on 32-bit Windows server and clients.

Anyone has the same problem? Wonder if the link is still valid?
Otherwise, can I please get some advise where I can get the patch besides the mentioned link?

As a newbie I could use some help. I am trying to find/create a report that will show me the SLP name and what it has for; Operation, window, storage, retention period & target master as well as what policies it is associated with. I am using OpsCenter 7.6.0.1

I have BEX 2012 V14.0 Rev 1798 x64 w/ SP1 and the last hotfix 205111. When I try to run live update I continuously get and errors that prevent the downloaded decompressed content to install. I'd like to try to install the updates manually. I have accessed the product download site and entered my serial number, but the only things listed are the Backup_Exec_2012_14.0_SP4_MultiPlatforms_Multilingual.zip files. This produces a full install version of BEX 2012 sp4 but I can't seem to find just the SP4 update install file (or whatever files I may need to install in sequence, eg. SP2, SP3, etc).
BTW, LU Error: 1812 and 1806..A program that was part of this update failed with it ran. This update was not applied -And- LU downloaded all of the updates you requested but all of them failed to install. Please...try at a later time. I have plenty of space on the C: drive, where the downloads would be saving to, etc.

I know how to limit the number of tape drives used in backup operations but is there is way to limit the number of drives used for restores?
A restore that got submitted yesterday (it happened to be a RMAN restore) used 4 of our 8 drives. Is there a way within Netbackup that I could have limited this to perhaps 2 drives active at a time?
I have no access to the RMAN side of things.

Backup is failling with 69 error in one of the windows 2008 client.
Media server and client is same windows 2008 server with veritas 7.5.6
Master server is : Linux 2.6.32-279.22.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Feb 5 12:18:08 PST 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux.
could see that incremental backups are successfully, only full and accelerator backups are failing.

Daily, Login Multiple master servers ( 18) through windows box. Every time all servers opening java consoles. it's deficult to login all.
Kindly provide any way to open or through batch script possible ?. I need to open at a time all with credetials on this pls suggest any one...

We have SL8500 Tape drives available in that total 30 drives. but in our netbackup console only 26 Drives showing.
That drives shared diff media servers with SSO options.
How can I find which drives not utilizing..? Pls suggest quickway to check ?

Master/media NB5230 v2.6.0.1, and FC to LTO6 drives in HP MSL 2024.
I know how to setup and configure NetBackup KMS. At this point in time I'm not interested in MSEO.
The Appliance v2.6.0.1 Admin Guide, on page 106, says:
"The NetBackup appliance supports writing to the tape devices that are capable of SCSI T10 encryption to ensure that the tape media that is moved off-site is secure. Tape encryption requires configuration the NetBackup Key Management Service (KMS) feature.
Note: The KMS feature is supported when the appliance is configured as a media server only in a NetBackup domain. A NetBackup master server appliance cannot administrate KMS. A non-appliance master server is required to administrate KMS with the devices that are connected to a NetBackup appliance."
Obviously it is quite clear that:
- NetBackup KMS on appliance master not supported (because it cannot see tape drives)
- NetBackup KMS on appliance media supported (because it can see tape drives)
But, can I infer that this is true:
- NetBackup KMS on appliance master/media supported (because it can see tape drives)
...because the appliance (although acting as a master server) is also acting as a media server.
However, this would conflict with '...is supported when the appliance is configured as a media server only...'
And here grammar can get in the way - is NetBackup KMS supported on media appliances 'only' when in a NetBackup domain? If so, then is NetBackup KMS supported on master/media servers because the media server function is a member of a NetBackup domain, i.e. the master function on the same appliance?
I wish the document made a statement regarding appliances that are 'master/media'.

I am a little new to the backup environment. I would like to know if some one give me command for creating a new SLP
i know it is nbstl SLPNAME -add ...................
But then i am lost. i know how to create it using GUI. But for some reason my Storage units do not load in my master.
All policies and SLP's load but Storage units and storage unit groups do not load.
I guess now i have two questions. Any help will be appreciated.

Why is my system creating unscheduled Base Recovery Points. I have my backup job set to run every day and do 5 incrementals each day. A new Base Recovery Point should only be created the first day of the new month. For some reason I am getting new Base Recovery Points several times in a month. I am running Windows 8.1 update 1 as a standard user. I do hibernate my system each evening and do a shutdown or restart occasionally.
Have just installed a virtual NB5220 from v2.6.0.1 ISO. Configured as master. All seems ok.
Opened browser to WebAdmin GUI, but Windows client kit is not available for download from master.
How do I make a Windows Client available for download from the appliance?
I guess I'm after something a bit like the v2.6.0.2 Windows Client addon package named:
SYMC_NBAPP_addon_nbwin-7.6.0.2-SLES11.x86_64.rpm
...but I obviously need the v2.6.0.1 equivalent.
Any ideas?
Just sharing something that a partner pointed out to me the other day, which I did add it as a potential answer to question in the main forum - but I think it's worth re-iterating and seeking clarification here...

And this is where I make the assumption that VADP is built using VDDK - and so this implies that neither NetBackup v7.6.0.2 nor Appliance v2.6.0.2 will work with vSphere ESX 4.x hosts (and nor NetBackup v7.6.0.1 with EEB3318872 and nor Appliance v2.6.0.1 with EEB3318872). Are both the assumption and the inference correct?

Hi,
One of my users was getting random messages of "locked for editing by another user" when she tried to open Office documents on the server share.
This happend randomly. When she tried again later it would be OK. Then it might happen again with another file. We're pretty sure no one else would have opened those files.
I checked that a Backup Exec backup job was running at the time. It is possibe that the backup job just happened to have locked the files at the time?
VSS is used in the backup job.
