Need help on resource requested for a job

I need a solution

Hi,

I need your help to check is there a way to find the Logical resource is currently used somewhere ? in Netbackup 7.1.0.4.

in my shop whenever the SLPcomes to schedule they mostly queued up for a long time with the reason "Limit has been reached for the logical resource " but when I try to check them I don't find any jobs using this resource but somehow the SLPs won't run and waiting for a long for the same reason.

Is there a way I could check the availability of the resource somewhere if it is used ?.

I need a solution

Hi Guys,

 I am in process of writing a script for checking a particular policy, if the jobs ran successfully or not. I will be comparing with number of files backed up previous date. I will do that. However I am also looking if the job completed partially, I would want to get the list of files skipped or gave error, which is present in detailed status of the job in Activity Monitor. I can get that in command line through bpdbjobs -all_columns. But my problem is how do I organise the output of this command to get only the lines which gave error or were skipped, as this command's output is single line I guess.

Thanks

Sid

RMAN restore failing with ORA-27191: sbtinfo2 returned error

I need a solution

Hello,

The DBAs are doing an RMAN restore which was taken on server 1 seprdu05. They are trying to restore on server 2 seppuu03.

Both clients are Solaris 10 machines with oracle database 11.2.0.

The master server is RHEL 5.9.

The netbackup master server version is 7.5.0.7

The netbackup client version is 7.5.0.4

The error is as below:

  Oracle instance shut down

  RMAN-00571: ===========================================================

  RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============

  RMAN-05501: aborting duplication of target database

  RMAN-03015: error occurred in stored script Memory Script

  ORA-27191: sbtinfo2 returned error

  Additional information: 3480

On the client, nothing is reported in the netbackup logs: /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/user_ops/dbext/logs/

It seems that the error "Additional information: 3480" would come from the MML (Media Manager Layer). Is there any logs on the master server that could give more details wether the RMAN job has interacted with netbackup so far?

Any sugestion would be very helpful.

How to restore files without log of backup being done

I need a solution

Hey all,

Recently we had a hardware malfunction on one of our fileservers and had to revert to an older system state. Now we are in the process of trying to restore the more recent data back onto it. When I try to go back and restore through the restore wizard it's only showing what looks like to be the logs of the backups being completed rather than the actual backup files? Is there a way I can point it to the storage and have it directly restore the actual backup files?

Sorry I am not very familiar with this software yet!

Thanks!

netbackup retry attempt

I need a solution

When Netbackup retries a backup, it is creating a new job.   I was of the impression that a retry would just activate the ATTEMPT counter, and use the same job.   This is inflating our SLA in that we are being charged for each time the backup retries because they are seperatre jobs   Is there a way to make NBU retry the backup within the same job ?

I need a solution

Hi

I need some help with creating query.

I need report that ll give me input status by policy name...

 - if job is successfully finished

 - if job is still runing

 - if job was repeated and how it was repeated (manually or automatic) and then if it was successful or failed

 - and if posible if it was successful job to check if it was done within RPO time.

I would need for one week separately for each day.

My query till now:

SELECT domain_Job.policyName AS "Policy Name",

CASE WHEN (UTCBigintToNOMTime(domain_Job.endTime)-(UTCBigintToNOMTime(domain_Job.startTime))<0 THEN "running"
ELSE "end"
AS "Status",

CASE WHEN domain_Job.statusCode in (0,1) AND status="end" THEN "success"
WHEN domain_Job.statusCode in (0,1) AND status="running" THEN "run"
ELSE "failed"
END AS "End status"

FROM domain_job
WHERE datediff(day,UTCBigintToNOMTime(domain_Job.startTime),CURRENT DATE)<=7
AND datediff(day,UTCBigintToNOMTime(domain_Job.startTime),CURRENT DATE)>=0
AND domain_Job.type=0
AND domain_Job.isValid=1;

Thanks for any help ;)

Netbackup Compatibility

I need a solution

Hi,

I want to install netbakcup 7.6.0.4 on my HPUX 11.11 machine.

I need some clarification regarding netbackup compatibility.

in the compatibility document, it is said "Minimum Netbackup Level" is 7.0 and NetBackup 7.6 and later does not support the NetBackup-Java Administration Console or the BAR GUI (Backup, Archive, and Restore Interface) on this platform.

Does it mean that Netbackup 7.6 doesnt support HPUX 11.11 or it does support but certain functions such as NB Java Console and BAR gui wont work on this platform?

What does the Minimum Netbackup Level actually means as my current HPUX machine is currently running NBU 6.5?

Please advise

Regards,

Aris.

I need a solution

Hello,

    I'm new to Backup Exec. Our office is planning on using BE to backup our data.

  We have two locations that will be running BE. We plan to replicate data in site 1 to site 2. In site 2, there is a different data set which we want to replicate to site 2. Is this possible using Backup Exec 2015? What are the requirements/ licenses? Is there a document regarding this setup?

Thank you.

Vincent

    I'm new to Backup Exec. Our office is planning to use BE15 to backup our data in two sites.

What are the required licenses for this setup? Someone told me that we need Enterprise Server Option and Optimized Dedupe Option. How about the licenses for the agents?

Thanks,

I need a solution

Hello i have replaced the cartridges (2 are cleaning) in BE 2010 R3 (Tandberg T40, all labeled)

Now i only see 37 cartridges and not 40 in backup exec. I tried to assign the 3 ones at partition 1 in the T40 but still see 37 in BE.

Sometimes labels don't correspond in BE (wrong labels/slots) to what i see in the T40 (right labels/slots),

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I need a solution

Hi,

We developed a problem with our tape library and then discovered it is no longer supported so until we get a replacement I want backup data to disk.

Would someone please be kind enough to provide detailed instructions on how to create disk based backup in Netbackup 6.5?  Will I need another license to create disk based backuop?  Also, I have been searching for the Administrator's guide but all the articles relating to the Admin guide do not contain a link to the download.

Thanks!

Windows 2008r2 Master and Media server running Netbackup 7.6.0.4

Hello all.

I made a bit of a rookie mistake today. I was running low on DataDomain storage, so I was running some manual cleanup, and accidentally expired an image that I really need to get back. My question is, shouldnt the phase 1 and 2 import process in Netbackup essientially be the same as you would perform from tape media, but instead of selecting a tape ID, you point to your disk storage unit? As soon as I realized what I had done, I disabled cleaning on the device, to stop it from starting, and possibly clearing the expired image. Doing a search online, I see a LOT of image imports for tape media, but I didnt see anything for disk. I have tried, and the phase 1 process ran for 6 hours, and completed. Then, when I go to run phase 2, I get the "no images are ready for phase 2 import" message. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all.

I need a solution

Hello Folks,

I have been trying to configure BLAT for catalog DR recovery email notifications unsuccessfully multiple times. :(

Please guide me where am I doing wrong.

Master Server: Windows 2008 R2 SP1 x64-bit

NetBackup version : 7.6.1.2

Blat version: blat324_64.full.zip

==================================================================================

Have been following the below tech-note, copied the blat.exe file to C:\Windows\System32\ folder and finding myself stuck up on step no.4 repeatedly. Please assist.

https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH24110.html

Below is the error message that I have been receiving.

==================================================================================

C:\Windows\System32>Blat –install exchange.abcd.com.yy backup.support@abcd.com.yy

  Blat -profile [-delete | "<default>"] [profile1] [profileN] [-q]
  Blat -h

C:\Windows\System32>

=================================================================================

I have tried with both hostname and IP address of the exchange server but still getting the same error saying  "Blat saw and processed these options, and was confused by the last one...followed by IP-address/exchange server name"

Have tried with small cases blat -install too, still the same.

Telnet to SMTP port 25 on Exchange server from Master Server is working fine.

Forward and reverse lookup for exchange server hostname and ip address is working fine.

Please suggest how and where to proceed now.

I need a solution

Hello all, So I have an existing 7.6.1.1 env pointing to a DD via OST (which replicates to a another DD through SLP).

Prod (10.xx.xx.xx)

Existing (20.xx.xx.xx)

Backup (30.xx.xx.xx)

Customer is wanting a dedicated backup. I am looking to either move the master, media, and DD over to the new dedicated backup network or to build a new master, existing media , and DD on the existing network. (let's assume all routing is configured and in-place as needed)

Current Master , Media, and DD all dual pathed on Prod & Existing networks.

My question is, can i stand up a new master server in the backup network, using the same media server to point to the same DD (using same mtree).

My initial thought is that I will need to move to swap Prod IP and Existing IP on media around, then Existing IP becomes the new Backup interface.
