OpsCenter not wrking properly

I need a solution

Hi All,

We are facing some issues with our OpsCenter server

1. OpsCenter will stop working at 3.00am in the morning when the data purge starts, meaning it will not generate alerts. I am able to access the webconsole and all the services will be up and running but no laerts will be triggered.

2.When I perform an opsamin stop and start in the next day it will start generating alerts.

3.OpCenter DB is having 70GB of size. We tried to defrag the db, but it got stuck at "importing opscenter database" for around 4 days and we cancelled the process.

4.We increased the OpsCenter servers physical RAM from 36GB to 72GB but still no luck.

Checked "server.log" in "C:\Program Files\Symantec\OpsCenter\server\db\log" and "purge-status" in ""C:\Program Files\Symantec\OpsCenter\server\logs" but didn't find any errors.

Please let us know if anybody has any idea on how to resolve this.

Hi Team,

Please I need your expert advise on this solution:

Customer has proposed implementing backup solution via NFS; this solution is based on having the centralized server IPs & file path where to send the backups to.

We currently have Symantec NetBackup 5230 Appliance installed in this customer datacenter.

Question: Will NetBackup 5230 Appliance support mount points from network file systems (NFS). This will enable customer backup their network file system data to the central storage location, which is on the NBU appliance.

Scripting Media Reports

I need a solution

I am frequently asked by our customers how to created Backup Exec reports that will show either:

1. Media written to since the last set of backups and the date it is due back

or

2. a Media Report for the tapes that are being sent offsite and a Media Report for the tapes that are due back from the offsite location

These reports need to be in the form of a CSV or TXT file and they need to be sent to the vendors server.

Not sure where to start...

Red Hat 5.11 do not Browse folders

I need a solution

Hi,

I have BackupExec 2010, I Install the agent in a Red Hat 5.11, but when I try to list the folders on BackupExec I heva a problem, the folders of the server not open, the software try a long time to open it and give a error: "out of memory" or "that is not possible to open the folders".

Anyone have this problem and solve it ?

I see on Symantec page, that Red Hat 5.11 are not Compatible with BackupExec 2010, only 5.7 later are compatible: (Supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.0 up to and including update 7 (5.7))

Anyone have a alternative to make it work ?

I need a solution

I am looking for the latest tape device drivers (tapeinst.exe).

I find a Symantec URL ( https://support.symantec.com/en_US/search-result.html?type=search&startOver=Y&productSelected=&keywordOrPhrase=bews+drivers ) that says to go to the following URL ( https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH22514.html ) to get the drivers.

However, the URL just mentioned directs me to go to yet another URL ( http://entsupport.symantec.com/umi/V-269-10
 ) to get the drivers.

And that URL brings me to this URL.http://support.symantec.com/en_US.html

Aaargh.

So how do I get the latest drivers for my tape device?

backup exec 2014 SP2 vmware jobs Final error: 0xe0009b61

Hi,

I have BE 2014 SP2, windows 2008 R2 SP1.

I have upgrade Backup Exec 2014 to SP2.

All virtual machine backups end with the error 0xe0009b61:

'Final error: 0xe0009b61 - Backup Exec could not log on to the server with the logon account specified for it. The logon account does not have valid credentials. Ensure that the user name and password are correct in the logon account.
Final error category: Security Errors'

Before upgrading everything worked regularly.

The test credential is ok.

Please check the attached screenshot and help me to understand , what is the de-dupe % meaning here -

78.20% data is dedupe  and only 21.80% data is written to MSDP pool  ?

or

78.20% data is written to MSDP pool and 21.80% data is dedupe ?

and why datasize is 9 GB in both the cases - full backup and incr backup .

Flashbackup snapshot error 156

I need a solution

Hello everybody,

I would like to ask for a suggestion regarding windows flashbackup backups and restores.

I have to backup and restore a system with a millions of little files (this is a characteristic of the application running on the server).

Description of the enviroment:

1 Mastar / Media server Redhat

1 media server Redhat

1 Windows server Client with 3 disk volume drive units which the size every unit is 3TB

Backup type: Windows Flashbackup 

The backups have been working successfuly until the April 22th.  The april 23th the server stops because storage problems. I found that one of the volume drive is up to 99% (20 GB free space of 2.99 TB).

When I run the backup i got the error 156 snapshot error. I found out the technote NetBackup VSS snapshot error encountered (156) at https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH75214.html.

I took the full volume drive off from the backup selection and the backup works without that volume.

I have been asked to thake the backup from that volume before purge or move the information. Then I created another policy only with the full volumne drive in order to thake the backup but i still gettin the 156 error.

Does any body have suggestions to this problem?

Number of media Servers for an SSO license

Hi,
      Is there a limit for number of media servers being used for sharing tape drives?

We are trying to add a new media server to the existing environment. Currently, tape drives are shared betweeen servers 1 and 2.
Server 3 is added to the environment and all neccessary licenses(including SSO) are added.

We are able to share the tape drives only between two servers. If we try to add server 3, server 1 disconnects and only two paths are shown at any point in time.

However tpconfig -d or vmoprcmd -d is showing all the tape drives on all 3 servers.

NB admin console is not showing the third path which was configured. Duplication jobs get failed if server 1 is removed.

Is there a limit for the license set?

Restore from tape and disk

I need a solution

Hi all ;

Currently i configured a policy with 2 schedules , full backup to Disk and full backup to tape library . i couldn't make multiple copy for this policy as the tape and disk not on the same media server.

the question here how can i specify Netbackup to restore from tape or disk whether this policy type is standard FS or oracle.

I need a solution

Hello,

   We are facing problem on virtual machines, which are added to Netbackup. NBU is failing job with error 156 and virtual machin is showing error on vsphere client saying "virtual Machine consolidation is needed". I saw some people had same issue when they upgraded to 7.6.0.2 but we are still using 7.6.0.1  We have not made any changes recently on netbackup or vmware side.

     Can someone please help me to figure out what is the issue here.

/var/tmp files system filling up with pdvfs directories

I need a solution

Hello All,

I am looking for some help on what would be the best practice for removing pdvfs directories from the /var/tmp file system?  The /var/tmp file system is filling up with pdvfs directories and I would like to remove these however; the only articale I can find refrerences an EEB fro NBU 7.0.1.

I don't think this applies becuase currently we are running NBU 7.6.0.2 on all systems in the environment.

Master and Media Servers are running Solaris 10 and NBU 7.6.0.2

All Clients are running NBU 7.6.0.2

Catalog backup full issue with status code of 2009 and 2

I need a solution

When I SSH to master server, under activity monitor, I keep seeing    catalog backup status code of  2009 and  2. It always show   two status code of 2 and one status code of 2009.  We are using   Scalar i40  Quantum tape library, its current version is 175.GS001. Based on our weekly tape backup, we expected weekly tape repot but received zero.  Tried to run manual report same issue.  I believe this catalog issue impacting tape backup. 

I have researched on Symantec website found this KB  https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH141955.html to resolved the status code 2. But when I log into server, we do not have  color:#6E6E6E">NBDB.db under bin folder.

problem:  Status 2009: All compatible drive paths are down but media is available 

My question is, how can I resolve this issue.?  I am new backup adman not much knowledgeable with symantec products. Would you please advise?

Am currently using netbackup 5.1MP6 with windows server 2003,now am planning to migrate to netbackup 7.6 with windows server 2008.

Here is my question

1)what are the steps i need to folllow

2)If the installations is done can i have a option to export all the policies from old server to new server.

MMS problem after CAS is reinstalled

I need a solution

I am running BE2014 on CAS and MMS. I created local job on MMS and test to run successfully. And then I uninstall DB and BE2014 on CAS.

Now I cannot open BE2014 on MMS anymore.It keeps connect to server. When I tried to connect to MMS with proper ID and Password, error returned cannot connect to DB  "The BackupExec database is currently offline""Datasource: ADAMM" cannot connect to database BEDB requested by the login.

What can I do to recover the mms and make it run stand alone and resume the local jobs I created on it without restart MMS server or reinstall BE2014? Thanks
