SOOO frustrated, been on the phone for hours today with India, except the 3 times I was cut off. They DO NOT know know how to support the "COPY HARD DRIVE" feature, AND FREELY ADMIT IT. I would recommend no one waste your time trying to get help with this by phone. ALSO, it is IMPOSSIBLE to understand them!!!!!
--I need help with the advanced options in 2013 SR because I have a hard drive (BOOT drive) to copy to a new boot drive, and the old one has partitions, which I can find NO tech support specifics anywhere to do this.
--The only info I found on this topic says "you have to copy partitions one at a time."
After spending hours today with Symantec tech support, and on my one researching, I have found that copying a hard drive with partitions is impossible. with the little available technical assistance from Symantec!
--I finally found information after lengthy internet searches that if you have Windows 7, you have to copy the System Reserved partition first, of course this info is for Enterprise (why can't Symantec get everything named correctly when they change products????), so I can only guess if this applies to 2013 SR. Does anyone know?
In any case the problems with Copy Hard Drive are:
--when I copy that System Reserved partition first to my new harddrive (as specified), it renames the drive to "SystemReserved" from "iBOOT" which is what it was named. So that's one problem.
-Then when I try to copy the PQSERVICE partition, it says "warning, if you copy this it will overwrite everything on the drive" - just great! What do I do now???
-I still have to copy all the main data from the old C/Boot drive, nearly 1 TB, I don't know if that will work or not, but can't even get that far.
- PLEASE, if anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm wondering if the advanced option settings may be the problem, or at least part of it. The info that Symantec provides about the Advanced Option Settings is completely inadequate, and there are absolutely no Advanced Option Settings directions given when you are copying multiple partitions to a new hard drive.
This is completely unaccaptable tech support and customer service. The main executive running Symantec is earning almost $10 million per year - WHY can't they fix their customer service that is broken in SO many ways!?!
