I have BE2014SP2 installed on a Windows 2012R2 server. On one of the data drives I have turned on the native Windows local disk de-dupe feature. This has cut the disk space needed from from 2TB to only 1TB. I would like to back this up on to a single LTO5 tape. With BE2012 and compression I could just fit the 2TB compressed data on to a 1.4TB LTO5 tape. Now that the data on the server is only 1TB, is there any option to have BE back up the de-duped data so only 1TB of tape space is needed? The native Windows Backup application is de-dupe aware and only backs up the 1TB of de-duped data but BE appears to still need to "re-hydrate" the data and back up the full 2TB. I have also tried EMC networker which appears to be de-dupe aware but I do not have a local tape option with that (backups are sent to a remote data center over a WAN). Is there any way to get BE2014 to be de-dupe aware or is that a feature that may be coming soon?
