I am curious about something: Our organization backs our whole system up to a large dedupe volume hosted on the Backup Exec server. We have also been running a separate job that creates another separate full system backup to external disk media for an offsite backup.
I am considering switching the external disk phase of this setup from using a a separate independant backup job to instead use a copy (duplicate backup set) job to rehydrate the completed dedupe backup over to the external USB media.
My question is, would I still need the verify option enabled on the dedupe backup in this scenario? Isn't the process of rehydrating the dedupe job and copying it over to the USB (b2d folder) pretty much doing the same thing that the verify would have done in terms of testing the data? Disabling verify on the dedupe job, and verifying only the second job to external disk would significantly reduce the overall time of backup operations.
