BE server self backup which is running on Hyper-V

Hi Experts, 

I wanted to know how to backup my Windows server ( BE 2014 installed )  which is running on Hyper-V , Details as below 

Windows server 2012 running BE 2014 - I want to backup this client , do i need to backup this as VHD or normal filesystem backup will do ?

 and help me with restore process of this client.

For restoration do i need to create a new windows server as same as my original setup and restore the VHD file ? Will it help me to revert back to original state of my server.
