Catalog of tapes multitude of errors

I need a solution

I am using B.Exec 2010 on Server 2008

General Problem

My plight is that when I catalog tapes (this version and other versions of B.Exec), invariably I get an error. This is regardless of whether the tape is from current media server or another, current LTO level or different, lengthy catalog or short operation.

But since I have usually been able to work thru the error presented by essentially ignoring it, I usually can move forward. Probably irrelevant, but the types of errors that seem to be rampant are:

- The requested media is not listed in the media index

- Invalid physical volume Library media identifier

- An inconsistency was encountered on the storage media

- An error occurred retrieving catalog information etc, etc, etc

After attempting the numerous and time consuming fixes, I discovered that i would act is if the catalog was successful and then see what data was restorable. And as it turned out, the data was for the most part available as a restore job from that particular tape......until now.

Specific Problem

When I run this particular catalog job...although I deselect "Request all media in the sequence for catalog operations",  it asks for numerous other tapes. Fortunateley I have them all. But the issue here is that the job fails about 4 hours in with an error of:

0xe0000904 - An error occurred while retrieving catalog information

And although the other catalog operations of the other tapes in this set errored out (with different errors), when I got do a "restore" job, the other tapes are available to 'Restore". This particular tape is not however.

The tape drive is clean.

I have tried the fix as seen in:  http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH140538

Signed....bummed but hopeful!
