Planning to upgrade to BE 2014. We currently use BE 2010 R2 and there are several Windows 2000, Windows 2003 and Windows XP clients. We also have Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 7. Although we most of this computer are virtual machines wunning on VMWare, we still use the Windows backups method in BE.
Seems that if we upgrade BE to support Windows 2012 R2, the old BE server will need to continue to work until all Xp, 2000 and 2003 server are retired.
So we purchase a new BE license for the new server? New BE client will use the new agent.
Can both servers share a SAN for local backups? We have a full backup policy to the SAN and then it does a copy from SAN to tape.
Could the new BE 2014 server manage both BE server (2014 and 2010 R2)? That way we keep the backup policies and continue doing the backup to SAN and then copy from SAN to tape.
