We do flash backup of clients from mirrored storage using media servers as alternate client to import snapshot onto them and append data to target device, Currently we have 60 virtual drives with which are accessed through 2 storage units with 29 maximum concurrent drives, found that we are licenced to used maximum number of virtual drives which are 80 in total, So we planning to add the extra 20 virtual drives to the environment to break the current backup window and speed of backup cycles.
My Question is will if increasing no.of drives, is there any point where i need to be cautious that would impact media servers?
what aspects as per Operating System level i need to keep in mind ? i am sure that media servers uses their memory to append data on to tape, so can this change impact any operating system resources?
I am sure that i need scan scsi on media servers and then configure storage devices, what are the necessary precautions on netbackup needs to be taken for this implementation ?
What aspects should i look on VTL Appliance?
